Fascination for 6,000 years
Glass is one of the oldest raw materials created by man. Glass was already being made in Egypt almost 6,000 years ago. Over 2,000 years ago, the glassmaker's pipe was invented, which revolutionized glass production. This tool is still used today. The history of our manufactory begins in 1946 with the foundation of the hollow glass refining cooperative Wernigerode as a so-called resettlers' cooperative. From this, the VEB Glaswerk Harzkristall Derenburg was founded in 1949.
A unique view of the Brocken in the
Treat yourself to some time out for the soul. During a walk through the cottage garden and with a scoop of ice cream with a view of the Brocken, you will forget the stressful everyday life. Next to the Brocken and Wernigerode Castle, you can enjoy a unique view of the Harz foreland.
In the midst of a huge flower splendor grows also our own wine of the grape variety "SOLARIS", which is harvested annually by us and delivered by the Born Winery bottled by the winery Born at the Süßen See.
In our cottage garden there are many quiet and green sitting and lying possibilities as well as the stamp box of the Harzer hiking needle. Stop by on your next hike and secure your stamp!
